Gonzalo grew up in Argentina where he graduated as a veterinarian. Later on, he earned his Masters and PhD degrees in Animal Sciences enrolled at Massey University, New Zealand, along with grazing trials which were carried out in Teagasc Ireland. Working with Professor Colin Holmes he was able to gain a deep understanding of profitable pasture-based dairy systems with varying levels of inclusion of concentrates. Gonzalo worked for New Zealand Farming Systems Uruguay, with 49 pasture-based dairy farms, between 2012 and 2016, which allowed him to put into practice the principles that are behind successful dairy systems. Gonzalo has spent the last 10 years of his career focusing on transferring management practices to farmers. He enjoys working closely with farmers, dairy cows, and the farming environment.
